1)     GOD pinned back the curtain of Eternity, and showed Him the Future..

2)     What a wonderful visit John had in Heaven.

E)      The Most Wonderful Visit - Most Glorious - The Most Meaningful, Visit Ever Made..

1)     Was When  "GOD BECAME FLESH"

1.      When He Visited This World In Form Of The Son.

F)      We Have Read All The Details…

1)     The Virgin Birth…

2)     The Sinless Life…

3)     The Vicarious Death…

4)     That Victorious Resurrection And Ascension.

5)     Now John Speaks Of That Visit And How It Was  Received In The First Verses Of John Chapter 1

G)     We See Four Things In These Few Verses.

I.   THE CREATION.     II. THE COMING.

III. THE CRIME.        IV. THE CONVERTS.

I)       THE CREATION Jn 1:3 All things were made by him; & without him was not any thing made that was made.

A)      WHO WAS JOHN TALKING ABOUT? – JESUS

1)      We say that God created all things..

2)      Yes Through His Son Jesus Christ.

3)      Who Was In The Beginning??  Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and  the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

B)      WHEN WAS JESUS BY THE SIDE OF GOD?

1)      Go back to the time when God created the world and you will find Jesus by His Side…

2)      When God Created The World Jesus was There.

3)      God Said Let There Be Light Christ Was There

4)      When God Said "Let us make the sea and the dry land” Christ Was There.

5)      When God Said "Let us make the animals and the fish and the fowls” - Christ Was There.

6)      When God Said "Let us make man in our own image” - Jesus Was There.

C)     NOW MAN DOESN'T CREATE ANYTHING.

1)      He makes something out of existing Materials.

2)      Christ, as the agent of Creation made everything out of nothing.

3)      He simply spoke and it came into existence.

4)      Man Can Build - A Skyscraper - A Bridge - Plane flying 600 MPH..

5)      Man Builds A submarine - Bombs of destruction

6)      In All Of This He Must Use Materials Existing.

7)      Only God Can Create Something Out Of Nothing

D)     JESUS CREATED..

1)      The BLUE HEAVENS Above.

2)      Created The Space Between The Sky & The Earth

3)      Jesus Scooped Out The Rivers And Lakes And Filled Them With Water.

4)      He Put Up The SUN - The MOON  -The STARS

5)      The Flowers In The Field - Trees In The Forest -  Fish In The Sea - Birds In The Air.

6)      Then He Made His Masterpiece - MAN.

II)      THE COMING.

A)      GOD SENT HIS SON INTO THE WORLD.

1)      WHY? - For One Reason Only..

(a)    He saw that me were lost and going to HELL

(b)    He wanted to provide a way of Salvation

2)      So He sent His Only Begotten Son Into The World That Through Him Men Might Be Saved.

(a)    He came as a BABE.

(b)    Grew up into manhood, Went about doing good

(c)     He preformed many miracles and taught the great truths about God.

(d)    Finally He was CRUCIFIED on and old Cross

3)      Christ came not primarily as a doer of good deeds or a teacher of great truths.

(a)    He Came To Die For Sinners.

(b)    Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

B)      AT CHRISTMAS WE HEAR WHY MEN THINK JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD.

1)      Some say HE came to bring PEACE to Nations

(a)    If that is so He was a complete failure…

(b)    Because we have never had peace on the earth.

2)      Some Say He Came To Set An Example Of Brotherly Love For Us. Still A Failure..

3)      Some - He Came To Establish The Brotherhood Of Man & The Fatherhood Of God On The Earth..

4)      Greatest Vs In The Bible Tells Us Why He came  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

C)     THIS WORLD HAS RECEIVED SOME GOOD NEWS OVER THE CENTURIES.

1)      I Remember The End Of W/W 2

2)      Remember the Astronauts landing on the moon

3)      The Greatest News I Have Every Received Was JESUS DIED FOR ME AND HE LIVES AGAIN.

D)     JESUS SAW MEN DYING IN SIN.

1)      He did something about it..

2)      He came and took our sin in His own Body and died of the disease on the Cross.

3)      Purpose Of Dying -That We Might Live Forever

III)     THE CRIME.  Jn 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

A)      THIS IS NOT THE WORLD'S GREATEST CRIME.

1)      The man who puts a bottle to his neighbors lips commits a crime according to the Bible.

2)      Man who Murders - Steals - Breaks the other Laws of God is a Criminal.

B)      BUT - HERE IS THE GREATEST CRIME OF ALL.

1)      Jesus came with His hands full of blessings, but they rejected Him.

2)      They Turned their back on Him and Killed Him.

C)     WHY DON'T MEN RECEIVE JESUS INTO  THEIR HEARTS?

1)      Because their hearts are too full of the things of this world.

2)      Because They are not sold out to Jesus.

D)     WHY NOT MAKE A NEW START TODAY?

1)      Make room in every area of your life For Jesus

2)      The man who rejects Jesus Christ is a Fool.

IV)    THE CONVERTS.  Jn 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

A)      WHAT IT DOES NOT SAY.

1)      As many as Join the Church…

2)      As many As Are Baptized..

3)      As many who are confirmed…

B)      WHAT IT DOES SAY.

1)      "AS MANY AS RECEIVE CHRIST"

2)      Only One Way - You Must Receive Christ…

C)     THE MINUTE YOU RECEIVE HIM.

1)      You Want To Confess Him.

2)      Rom 10:10-11 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him  shall not be ashamed.

D)     FOR THE CHILDREN OF GOD.

1)      There is a land where there is No Night, No Death, No Sorrow…

Heavenly Heartburn

HEAVENLY HEARTBURN

Text: Luke 24:24-35

Introduction:

  1. Bible has a lot to say about  Hearts! Greek word is KARDIA, which we get:
    1. Cardiology - The study of the heart.
    2. Cardiologist - A heart specialist.
    3. Electrocardiograph - Electronic monitoring device for the heart
    4. Cardiac Arrest - A heart attack.
    5. Normal heart beats 70 times a minute 100,000 times a day - 40  million a year.
  2. Biblical Meaning of HEART is center of Life - Thought - Feeling – and Spirit.
    1. A.W. Tozer said God is more concerned with the state of people’s hearts than with the state of their feelings.”
    2. Do You Have Heavenly Heartburn?

I)      CONSIDER THE 2 EXTREMES IN THE TEXT

A)    FIRST - IS SLOW HEARTS Lk 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

1)    Slow To Believe.

2)    Slow To Understand.

3)    Slow To Receive.

B)    SECOND - BURNING HEARTS.  Lk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scripture.

1)    Personal Encounter - “While he Talked”

2)    A Personal Illumination - “While He Opened The Scriptures”

II)    CONSIDER VARIOUS HEART CONDITIONS

A)    INDIFFERENT HEARTS - CARING HEARTS

B)    Hypocritical Hearts - Humble Hearts.

C)   WORLDLY HEARTS - SPIRITUAL HEARTS.

D)   Broken Hearts - Joyful Hearts.

E)    How Would You Describe Your Heart Condition Today

III)  WHAT BIBLE SAYS ABOUT THE HEART

A)    HEART IS WHAT THE LORD LOOKS AT.  1 Sam 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

B)    THE HEART NEEDS PREPARATION.

1)    Rehoboam Was Unrepentant Because He Had An Evil Heart.  2 Chr 12:14 And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

(a)  He did not Serve the Lord because he did not Seek the Lord.

(b)  He  did not pray, as Solomon did, for wisdom and grace.

(c)  Made nothing of his religion because  he did not set his heart to it

2)    David Had Sinned But He Had A Repentant Heart.  Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

(a)  He prays that, his sins being pardoned, he might have the comfort of that pardon.

(b)  David Asks not to be comforted until first he is cleansed

(c)  Ps 51:8 8 Says Make me to hear joy and gladness

(d)  David is  praying for a complete and effectual pardon.

C)   THE HEART IS DECEITFUL.  Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

D)   THE HEART CAN BE RENEWED!  Ezek 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. {A New Heart Of Love}

1)    Does Your Heart Burn Today?

2)    Do You Love God With All Your Heart?

3)    Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
